Ratingen, Germany, 30 November 2010 – Following the launch of the ‘Sigma’ mobile signature pad, signotec is now introducing the new ‘Omega’ pad for stationary use. It can be used at sales counters and customer terminals in the retail trade, as well as at cashier desks and reception areas in banks. The large colour display and high resolution enable the display of the more extensive graphical and textual data that plays a significant role in daily business. For example, the Omega can be used to conveniently page or scroll through application forms or withdrawal receipts at the bank or to view documents. The pad can also be used as an advertising medium.
Omega, the new signature pad for capturing handwritten electronic signatures, was developed completely by signotec and is the result of over 15 years’ experience and expertise. The signature pad is manufactured in Germany by signotec and therefore guarantees the highest level of quality and secures jobs in small to medium-sized businesses. The housing of the signature pad can be custom designed according to the needs of the customer, ranging from the customer’s choice of housing colour right through to the addition of the customer’s own logo.
The signature pad features an outstanding display of text and graphics thanks to its large colour display (75 x 100 mm/5 in.) in VGA resolution, an extremely flat construction and attractive design. Furthermore, its ability to display more than 65,000 colours means that it is suitable for advertising purposes. When the device is not in use, freely configurable slideshows can be used to inform the customer of the latest developments. “The slideshows are stored directly on the pad in a fully independent manner,” says Arne Brandes, Managing Director of signotec GmbH. “This means that data transmission channels are not overburdened.”
The Omega’s large internal memory and its fast processor guarantee the highest degree of accuracy when signatures are digitised. The memory enables the temporary storage of recurring content, for example the general terms and conditions that the customer has to confirm as part of the process. The software ensures that images are always loaded ultra-fast. The Omega enables the signature’s direction, time and print coordinates to be digitised and captured at a rate that has yet to be surpassed. The resulting data quality automatically ensures the ability to prove the signature’s authenticity to the highest possible degree. The transfer of data from the pad to the PC is encrypted, so it is not possible to spy on the biometric features of the signature. Combined with SignoSign, the security of the system has been certified by TÜV Saarland, the technical inspection body for the state of Saarland in Germany.
The stationary Omega Pad is extremely compact with a size of 191 x 180 x 15 mm. The special sensor has a newly developed, robust surface. This surface, which has a smooth transition between the sensor and the housing, enables the act of signing to be comfortable and highly ergonomic. The rounded sides and the ability to pass fluidly from the device to the table ensure that the user's hand is never disturbed when signing. Thanks to the pen and sensor, users feel like they are writing on paper. “We paid great attention to detail when developing the device, and this makes a great difference in everyday usage,” says Arne Brandes. “The new pen sits comfortably in the hand and feels like a traditional ballpoint pen. A stable pen holder ensures that the writing device does not shake or tip over. Another important advantage is the fixed connection between the cable and the pad. This prevents disruptions and loose connections when moving the pad.”
The new pen is fixed in place with a highly flexible cord, which does not twist and can therefore be easily and cost-effectively replaced. The user no longer needs expensive special pens to be connected electronically with the pad. There are screw holes on the rear side of the signature device for mounting it to a table or a wall. A free software package is included with delivery, consisting of the signoPad API, signoIntegrator, signoImager and Microsoft Office AddIn.
